How can I get involved in art conservation?
I have a BA 1.1 degree in English and History of Art and am currently finishing up an MA in Mod Art but I have realised I would really LOVE to become a conservator but I hear one must have Fine Art background and chemistry to undertake an MA in it? Is that true? I am situated UK and Irl so would it be possible to pursue this? I am 21.

I really don't know about your country but a suggestion- find a conservator and apprentice with them if it is a practice there. Look for industry schools that prepare students for that field of work. In the U.S A. we have such programs in colleges and in the industry. Also Conservation is one thing Restoration another. As a professional picture framer I practice conservation techniques on all my work for my customers but occasionally am I called upon to restore art. I will take such work if it is in my ability but refer out work when it is beyond my expertise. There are specialties in this field.
So if you want to work around art and protect art you could become a framer but if you want to restore works of art you need to be a restorer.
